We went for an A-League soccer game tonight in Telstra Dome.. boy, it was soo much different from watching it on tv! It was far more exciting.. but this post is not about that. I will blog about that later once i downloaded some pics that I took.
This blog is all about Karmas and a great excellent car... here was how the cycle of karma started... (dreamy music pls...)
We sold our Peugeot last nite and got a call from the buyer while we were in the cinema. Manlok returned her call and it seemed that the car was leaking oil! OK, legally Manlok should just have told her that it was not our problem as we have already sold the car and she was happy with it and god knows how she drove it that might coz the leak. BUT Manlok was nice enough to get her to drive it to our mechanic (which is his brother...) to get it checked out without any charge.
Tonight, after the game, we just finished the soccer match and was about to leave the city. As we pulled out and was passing the traffic light when a white VW Polo (TTD085 is the plate) flashed very VERY closely in the corner of my eye. It was running a red light on high speed! I shouted to Manlok and he saw it as well. He quickly turned the wheels and the car spun to turn to the right to avoid the car which was coming from the left. Our beautiful little A3 turned around without as much as a sweat and we manage to escape a disaster.
We then stopped at the next light and the bloody car was right at the back of us. I winded the window down (it couldnt come down fast enough!) and had 1/2 my body out of the car and shouted (sweared, f*$%@ and everything else that was in my vocab) at them and gave them the middle finger. I came back in, and went back out and did it again!! Then Manlok asked me if I can get the number plate. I stuck my body out again and took note of it. We stopped at the side of the road and I called the police to report the incident.
Now, I believe that the good Karma that Manlok did last night was what saved us from a horrific crash that could have been. So ppl out there, believe in Karmic events! Do NOT onto others what you do not want others do onto you....
Secondly, ppl, that is why you SPEND on a GREAT car! Our Audi has a really good turning circle, allowing us to just turn the wheel a little to actually do a good 90 degrees turn! AND as our car is equipped with the stabiliser, with a turning THAT sharp, a lot of cars would have overturned. But the Audi, I didn't even feel the feeling of being 'thrown' to the side! Amazing isnt it? So you see, spending more on a good EUROPEAN car (it's true that it cost fair bit MORE than normal) is worth it. I am not overlooking the fact that IF the crash was to happen we might not survive it...So what is A$40-50K mean compared to a life or 2?
So, here's to KARMA & AUDI... THANK YOU!

my eyes playing tricks on me??
Psycho ok. I opened my room door this morning with a loud creek, and it startled a grey-colored cat which ran across my living room towards the main door which leads into the house. For 2 seconds, i stared at the cat, running in my house, MY HOUSE, on the third floor. The first thing that ran across my mind was, 's***, did i forget to close the sliding door last night?!'. So i checked on it. & it was ledged. I walked calmly towards the main door, hoping not to scare the cat with my morning look. & guess what? the cat was no where to be seen. The main door was locked, DOUBLE LOCK. Ok, what just happened there? i SAW that cat, for 2 seconds and it registered in my head. I had enough sleep, and i was thrilled to start my day at work.
So i kept my cool, took a shower, got ready for work & decided to take the stairs down to the car park. As i reached the ground floor, guess what i bumped into???YES-the cat, the SAME, grey cat which was sighted in my living room.....Ok, this is getting freaky. What exactly happened a moment ago? I don't know.
So i came to the office, did some research on cat sightings and its myths. hehe. check out the link http://www.petcaretips.net/black_cat_superstition.html
Myth 1 if a black cat crosses your path, u will have GOOD luck
Myth 2 if a black cat crosses your path, u will have BAD luck
so my question is, if its a GREY cat, will i have GOOD/BAD luck?? i rather believe in the former. My friend suggested that i go buy numbers. After i strike big time,i will share the profit with her. BUT, what combination of numbers to buy? That's the million dollar question here i guess

On A Happier Note..
One of my 'bestest' friend just informed me that she is getting hitched!!! AWW!!! I feel so happy for her! Good on you and I will try my best to be there! ;)
Bye2 306...
Its nearly 4am and tomorrow's a work day. I just finished some work I needed to do and thought its a good time for me to write something in the quiet...
The weekend has been quite productive although I have not been feeling too well due to the crazy weather :( On Saturday we went to Manlok's brother's garage to pick our old car, the Peugeot 306 up. It was there for some minor repairs before we sell it. Some ppl were interested in it so we thought we better bring it home and give it a good bath... Ended up in the garage for half a day, hanging out and washing and waxing our new car! hhehe...
Nearly forgotten how fun it was handwashing cars. Since we had water restriction due to the drought here, we weren't allowed to wash our cars at home! Had to pay to use the car wash thing. Bloody expensive man! Anyway, washed and waxed it, but then right after we finished it started raining.. lucky us! :(
Anyway, today we had a call while we were out from a chick who was interested in it. We quickly came home and give it a good wash and clean... they came and liked the car and put down a deposit for it while settling their loan with the bank... So, my beautiful red peugeot is gone.. I feel really sad coz i liked it a lot but its too expensive for us to keep 2 cars. I hope the new owner takes good care of it. Although its a good thing that someone is buying it as we then do not have to keep paying for it...
This post is dedicated to my beloved car..

Bye bye my little beaute.... will miss you and remember you always!

C-H-I-L-L-I-N-G
I m chillin' at home, trying to blog with Luke climbing out from underneath the computer table. He is forever up to something. If it's not disturbing his lil sister, it would be jumping from the bed or playing with his Thomas the Train. Nonetheless, with all the noise and activity at home, Melaka seems like the best place to chill. Everything is almost slow here-the lifestyle, the traffic, and even the way KL-lites drive around here. It could get a bit irritating at times, especially when u are rushing off to somewhere. But anyhow, it's still a good place for retirement so to speak ;)
Kerang by the longkang was awesome. The bloodier, the better. haha. Went there after dinner yesterday. U'd be surprise how many patrons they fetch. That stall had been there for ages, ever since my parents were courting! Shall post some pics later.
Ok i m having peranakan for dinner soon. Getting my tummy ready for some awesome food again . How not to get fat staying in Melaka? hehe.

Of hot summer nights and ice cold beers...
Stop luring me bie! :P I am coming home in a month, make sure u have time for urs truly! heheheh...
Anyway, today was the last day of the semester and exams for my students in melbourne uni. I have organised a get together drinkies in one of the watering holes in the city.. some place called Mr Tulk. Its quite a cool place located (believe it or not..) within the state library building! Yes, a pub-cum-cafe in a library! Made our way there after work through the crazy city traffic. And of course, we were the first ones there... uni students can never be on time! :P The weather today was heavenly! So warm and sunny (at least 30C!).. great condition for ice cold beers or whatever alcoholic drink u like lah...
And proving me right, only the local students came. All the asian students in my design tute group were MIA... but who cares... its more fun with the locals anyway! hahahaha... talk about being anti-social. I dont understand but most asians they just keep to themselves and wont bother to socialise with their colleagues. So they come and go and not learn or make any friends locally. What a pity!
Anyway... drinkies was really good and fun. One of my students bought me a glass of beer and although I dont like beer a whole lot, I thought I would still drink it.. since he as sincere enough to buy me one... but didnt finish it though.. mebbe 1/2 glass? hheh.. got myself a vodka on rocks instead. LOVE my VODKA! :)
It was a real fun night...tonight, we are just friends... and not tutor-student. Everything was very relaxing, happy and cruisy.
In short, it was a good semester. Most of my students are good kids. I am sure they will do well in the course provided they keep up the effort. I truly hoped I manage to channel some of my passion for architecture to them... or encourage them at least! Quite proud of the work they produced over the semester. Will always have these kids in my heart (since they are my first ever batch of students).
After drinkies, manlok and me walked around looking for food, naturally! Somehow alcohol always make u feel so damn hungry! So we had some crepes.. and after that went to have some hawker food.. i know we got our food priorities terbalik! drinkies, dessert THEN main! hahaha... oh well.. a good start to the weekend, wont you say so? :)

Silence is golden?
Hey hey, i m back! Yeah i wish i could say that i am back from a great holiday, but NO. Just back from silence. hehe. Sophie had to push me, give me a nudge to write again.
There hasn't been much excitement lately. Nothing new. It's been gloomy and raining most of the days. Then i thought, maybe i could share my experience on 'Eye on Malaysia'. My friend and I took a ride to the city the other day, jalan-jalan cari makan. Then we ended up at Eye On Malaysia. It's quite usual for Malaysians not to visit their own tourist attractions. So for a change, we decided to be tourists ourselves. The entrance fee was RM15 for a ride of about 20 minutes. The city lights were awesome. It could have been romantic if u were with your partner. It's something i would do for the experience at least once in my lifetime :)
So if you are interested to have a look-see, go before Dec. If i m not wrong, it is coming down by the end of this year.

Lingerie... a girl's best friend!
Is it just me or has everyone found the joys of sexy and beautiful lingeries? I know a lot of people might say, why bother to spend money on something that is hidden away under the folds of clothes? I say the opposite! There is NOTHING more empowering than us females showing some love to ourselves. We need to pamper ourselves and wear things that befit the person that we are... hence, we should splurge on great lingeries!!! (or thats my excuse for spending a fortune on them! hahaha..)
My favourite brand is.. SIMONE PERELE! They are hand-stiched in France and sells for a fortune... but lucky for me, I found some outlet that sells them for at least 50% cheaper.. the ones I got are all of sheer transparent material and its sooo comfy for the body! Its like a second skin and you feel nothing of it! so niceeeee.....

Dont you think so? Now I have colours ranging from black/light pink, red, orange/pink and they have matching undies too!! Ahhh... the wonders of sexy lingeries! ;P

New CAR.. Maybe!
Can you ppl who are reading this blog cross your fingers for me? What happened last Friday was still quite unbelievable...!!! We have been thinking of changing cars lately, although more so to another newer used car. On Friday, we went into a showroom, and ended up buying a brand N-E-W car!!! guess what car? below is a clue (ours is metallic phantom black in colour)...

Got the idea? hahah. Yes, we did walk into an Audi showroom and walked out of it close to having the car, subject to finance approval! YEAH! Its an Audi A3 Sportsback 2.0 FSI 6-speed manual. FSI refers to their system of fuel injection that they use to further enhance the efficiency of fuel injection and it lowers fuel consumption. We manage to get 10k off the price they put up.. yes, you didnt read wrong. thats 10,000! Getting quite nervous as tomorrow hopefully we will know if our financing comes around. Since its on a business lease with my business, it can be quite tricky coz I am self-employed, which is seen as a higher risk purchaser.
Anyway, not to be a wet blanket, here is another pic of the beautiful car's interior, ignore the automatic transmission.. ours is definitely a manual. Its not real driving with an automatic car, cant really optimise the cars potential! :)

31 at 15...
OK, if you are confused with the title, here is what it means.. last friday was manloks birthday. Its his 31st and we celebrated it with a bang with dinner at the famous restaurant FIFTEEN by Jamie Oliver. There you go!
Boy was it a BIG day! We both had the day off, as customary for us to take day off (officially or otherwise UN-officially.. hhaha) during our bday. It started with a visit to the hospital for me. Manlok's nice enough to wait patiently with me for 2 hours. Even went to get some stuff for me a couple of times in between! hehehe.. typical me to forget things!
Anyway, we went to TGIF for lunch and had a bit too much. Both had tummy upset after that and walked it off along Chapel St (one of the shopping strip for Melbourne...). Manage to take those classic b&w photos in those booths.. hehe.. me so ulu, dunno when it started so one of the pic had me 'nosing' around in front of the camera! haha.. I will scan the image and put it on here later!
Went to our fave shop, Retrostar to look at what we can find there. I bought 2 real used 70s cords shirt.. so cool! After that, we went to Fifteen, the Jamie Oliver restaurant in Melbourne. Manlok loves Jamie Oliver, so I booked us a cosy table there.. had to book 2 mths in advance man! But boy, was dinner soo yummy! so good that we have decided to hv dinner there every 1st friday of the month! Told them to reserve the exact same table for us automatically.. hehe.. suckers!
In summary, Manlok loved the day and was a very happy birthday boy! ;P

A familiar face in a foreignland
Have you thought what it would be like to work in a foreign land? I know there is a few of us who's in the exact same situation. As one, I can say, its not always a bed of roses. Sometimes it gets quite lonely and you just long to go back home to all those late nighters in the mamak...Sometimes you feel a little like a 2nd class citizen with the preconception from the locals of our 'kind'. The thing that I hate most is when they assume that I am from CHINA! ME! from CHINA! *fuming*....
But it is times like these that I really appreciate a visit by familiar faces... A few of you have visited me in the past years, the latest was Michele & Steven. It was a really good week! We had good fun.. ate a fair bit... and went touring a little too.. So here's a few of the pics we took...

Drivers, BEWARE
My last post, i mentioned that our environment isn't safe anymore. What i heard a moment ago confirmed that this statement is without a doubt, TRUE.
Someone i know just experienced a car hijack at BROAD DAYLIGHT!!The thieves intentionally 'accidentally' knocked her car and when she got out to check on the damage, she was punched & her car was driven away in a split second!!
Even as i speak, i can't help but wonder what if it was me?? We often think that bad things only happen to ppl we know. But in actual fact, we are at every risk of it at any time of the day.
What is this world coming to, u tell me. Is this what our society is made of? SHAMEFUL.

Meteor Showers..my first E-V-E-R!
I should be so lucky! I was out in the frontyard with manlok and the devils, running around... ok, manlok and the devils running around and me standing around. Suddenly this REALLY bright flash lighted up the sky with a sonic boom-like sound. I was suddenly washed with fear and panic, thinking, omigod, its an atomic bomb... or something like it!
We turned around and looked up and it was a really bright shooting star! Seriously it was REALLY bright!!!! Then a few minutes later, another one, less spectacular though. I suspected it was a meteor shower.. i quickly came in and did what every other internet savvy person would do... google it! haha.. and
TADAA!!! There it is: Orionid Meteor Shower. Today is the first day and I DONT believe it.. I caught the FIRST one!!!! It says that it will peak on Oct 21... I have put it down in my calendar! ;P Here is what it looked like:

Love will be our home
Was out with 2 friends for dinner last night. Thereafter, managed to catch a movie 'The Brave One' starring Jodie Foster. The story tells of a girl, who lost her fiance to group of muggers, and how the experienced changed her life from then on. Changed her perception to life & changed her personality entirely. Learning to stand up for herself, she took matters into her own hands and tracked down the guy who was involved in the brutal murder of someone so dear to her.
Of late, we hear of many cases of murder, rape, torture even in our own homes. Even the innocent & young are not spared of this inhuman deed. What is the world coming to? What happened to all the values that were taught and instilled in us ever since young? It is sad to see that as the country develops, the caring nature of the society diminishes. Home, which was once safe for the family, is now turning its back on its own. Where else could children find peace and protection? Where else could they run to for help?
What is all this telling us? That our environment is no longer safe. It teaches us not to trust anyone. It teaches us to be selfish. It teaches us to be weary of our surroundings.
If only we could love our neighbours as ourselves, then maybe, just maybe this world can be a better place to live in.

Bad Night..!
OK, last night was NOT a good night for me man! Went to the city to have dinner with manlok and had to wait for AGES to get our food. Then when I got home, picked up the mail and got a mail from the tax office telling me my ABN (for those who do not know what that is, its Australian Business Number) might be cancelled due to inactivity! Incredulous! I have been paying my tax into it for both my office work and private jobs and they claim that its been dormant! And manlok's ABN which HAS been dormant did not even receive a mention!!!
And like asthough that is not enough for the night.. I switched on my mac to check my mails and got one from the library in uni reminding me that ALL my books are overdue!!!! URGH!!!!!! and they are all in my flat in college and not at home! Imagine that! cialat.. talk abt a bad night! *_*
HOPE TOMORROW WILL BE BETTER!!!!!!!

Yes, it's Monday AGAIN *sulk
What did i tell u last week? Monday will come before you know it. & it did. Smacked right in front of my face. It's the hardest day to wake up to. I didn't bother much when the song 'Fast & Furious' by terikayki boys went from soft to very loud on my alarm. Tossed my feather pillow ,hit the snooze button and fell right back into sleep. Lovely dream. By the time i realised i had to get up for work, i had no time but to freshen up and get going. The jams in the mornings and after-office-hours irritate me to the core. This is the reason why Melaka is still closest to my heart. Everything is peaceful there. No headaches, no rush, simply PEACE. I guess Melaka is a fine place for an unambitious girl like me. Small town. Close bonds.
It was nice chatching up with Pat over the weekend. It's always nice to be home, be in familiar territory and be updated on current happenings amidst my physical absence. Put two hot single girls together on a Saturday night out and what do you get? FUN. Nothing is better than a nice cup of vanilla afogatto and a slice of white chocolate cheese cake with a great pal after a scrumptious seafood meal with the Sims and Irudayams. The weekend is what makes me sane this week.
Oh well, this week will come and go again like the last. & in no time, we'll all enjoy a good break for Raya. Cheers ppl!

Gr8 Weekend!
Weekend was great! Mic & Steve touched down in Melbourne VERY early on Sunday morning.. picked them up from the skybus station in the city and brought them to the flat where they will be living while they are here. The day before, I managed to squeeze in a game of golf with manlok! Didn't do quite so well.. since I havent 'golfed' for nearly 3 mths!!!
Left them in the flat to have a rest while manlok & me went to have brekky in St Kilda. It was a nice day although quite windy! After brekky I manage to pull myself into Lit'ya Health Club to enquire about that massage theraphy that I have been meaning to get myself into. OK! I DID IT! Booked myself in for next weekend!! hehehe... NICE! Right beside the beach too!!! *@* This is the brief description of the therapy:
LI'TYA KODO ROCKS
INDIGENOUS AUSTRALIAN STONE THERAPYKodo Rocks integrates the rhythmic melody of the Kodo massage with ancient stone therapy. It uses ancient Primordial stones from North Western Australia that have been hand-carved to suit specific needs. These ancient stones are combined with Kodo Body Massage as the therapists skillfully use the rocks on pressure points to ground and uplift the body. The powerful healing properties of these unique stones, integrated with the Kodo Massage, achieves powerful healing within the body, relieving muscular and emotional tension. A choice of native aromatic oils is also used to either rejuvenate, harmonise or detoxify.

After they rested, we picked them up and went to the Royal Melbourne Show, its an annual pilgrimage manlok & me do and this yr, got them to join us! hehe. spent the WHOLE day there.. till nearly dinner time. Had a yummy dinner together before we called it a night.. oh well.. tomorrow is yet another MONDAY!

christmas in september?
Psycho. Huming christmas carols at this time of the year? Yeah, tat's wat i m doing. It's like the sudden feel of christmas just overwhelms me. Jiwang boy (say it like how the melaka nyonyas do). Beside me, my colleague is listening to romantic songs of the nineties. Which adds on and is spicing up the admosphere of romance here in the office. haha. Yeah right!
Someone once told me, go travel when u are young. Just go, and don't think too much of the finances. Sure thing, i thought. When u are young, u don't have the financial freedom to, when you are old and wealthy, you don't have the time/ health to. How ironic but true. Then it struck me, maybe i SHOULD start planning for next year's trip. That would give me something to look forward to at least. Heard that air asia is flying to Australia soon. ok, should check out air asia then. Thank God for this low cost carrier.
2 more hours to punch out. I love Fridays at work. Long lunch, short working hours, relaxing. TGIF. & tomorrow, i'll be home with Luke and Faith again. Monday will come again before you are ready for it. So treasure the weekend & chill people!

Monday again?
Hey Soph, i love your Mac!
i officially hate mondays.period. Ok maybe HATE is too strong a word. I DISLIKE mondays. Mondays make me feel sad, lazy and worst, depress. Maybe i don't have job satisfaction. Maybe i'm hoping my life would be a bit more interesting than it is now. Maybe i wished i knew where i would be heading in the next 5 years. Should i ask for a transfer back to Melaka? Should i apply to further study now? Ok, i' m beginning to sound like a whinny old lady who is living in limbo, which FYI, i m totally NOT! hehe.
Enough about my complaints. It's a brand new week, brand new start, brand new whatever. Gosh, i need excitement in my life!!! See how the emotions swing from one end to the other??? Ok, take charge, be in control, and all else will be fine ;)
The weekend was rather fun. Grey's Anatomy movie marathon. I watched 20 episodes in 2 days. If i do the math correctly, that's an average of 10 episodes on Saturday and another 10 on Sunday, which takes up an average time of 10 hours for each day. Couch potato? Maybe. Once in a while, it's fun.

What a day!
Not sure what word can describe today for me.... dramatic? joy, anxiety, anguish, aggression, worry... all sorts la. It started off quite good.. manlok's boss gone for europe holiday for the next 3 weeks.. so he is stress-free, and we decided to go for a loooong lunch. Ended up the whole of his office was coming along too.. not to say I mind la, since i oso very friend with everyone there and lunch was by the beach, so it was really good! One of the gal was getting married on Sunday and we are invited! She was very happy... naturally!
We both decided to leave work early.. aka 3ish and I was gonna go pick up my new laptop. Got there, then guy told me, no stock! 'kek hei' man! So as usual, I was very aggro and no matter what, I was leaving with a machine! anyway, cut story short, I manage to get one after about 2 hours in the shop! hhehe... power rite? My principle, there is no such thing as negotiation... its MY WAY OR NO WAY!
So, TADAA!!!
My new love...17" Aluminium Macbook Pro!
In comparison... my old but still loved 12" Powerbook and newly acquired Macbook Pro with Mr Monkey!
Groovy self-detect keyboard backlight
The box it came in...
Gurantee of high quality control! (never had any problems with my old powerbook in 3 whole years!
Anyway, got home and checked my email.. got an email from the deputy head of college where I am tutoring. One of my students was having anxiety attacks coz she couldnt cope with her work! I went straight from happy ecstatic mode to like totally worried! Called her up straight away and she told me she wants to see me.. so arranged for a meeting with her on Monday evening... ai, being a tutor is not easy! have to do pastoral work too.. my personal opinion, I dont think she is suited to do architecture.. i think she is more suited to do construction management... but then again, thats my personal view la.. will discuss this option with her....
That pretty much summed up my start of this weekend.. At the moment, the bottle of Smirnoff vodka is awaiting my company! hahahhahaha....

A great weekend
Last weekend was a hectic yet fruitful one. You see, my routine is to clean the house on weekends, and to catch up with some friends if possible. I did both of that, plus went for Matta Fair & spent the next 3 days hanging out with my niece and nephew. They were in town, the two little devils.Adorable yet irritating at times. I had sleepless nights interrupted by their cries. It's either they want milk, soil their pants or apparently had a bad dream. But, i had fun after all. Fortunately i had to endure this for only 3 days. Anything more than that will drive me up the wall.
Yesterday i went back to an empty house once again. Peaceful but lonely. Will have them over again soon :)

My sedentary lifestyle
Yes, i totally admit my life is very unhealthy...this is my routine:
Wake up, work, breakfast, work, lunch, work, home!!!!, dinner, tv, sleep....
next day, the cycle repeats. No exercise, no emotional stress(which is a blessing for the moment), no human company, no worries....Ok, not so true bout the worrying part. So i've been thinking, i need to make my life a bit more interesting.
Options?
Yoga, further study, dance class, part-time dispensing, hiking.....
The other problem would be getting down to what i want to do. Hehe. So you see, i am very lazy after all. I must say, the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.
The best entertainment and company after office hours for me would be Astro. No fighting back, no argueing, no friction, no emotional stress, no grudges. THE BEST companion i can ever have for now. My friend is somewhat worried i m turning into the ultimate anti-social loner. But hey, i must admit i am loving my space and time for MYSELF, at least for now. Personal time is good. At this point of time, i am contented with me and my Astro:)
